The version of WMC is determined by the filename you downloaded, such as *,*v12.7z (v12 is the version...7z is the file extension) CableCard Tuners were shut down by MS since Anniversary Update. I did get NON DRM channels going again using DVBLink Server. Or you could go back to one of the 2015 Win10's. I didn't try DVBLink with 15063
Do the Pre-Anniversary Win10 versions accept DRM channels on the Prime? Not sure if I can downgrade Win10 easily. Also, I tried installing DVBLink Server on my QNAP, and it still didn't find my HDHR Prime tuner on the network. I saw old posts about the HDHR Prime requiring a manual installation and using the IPTV add-in. Is this still the case?
Yes, use 2015 version of W10......build 10586 DISABLE UPDATES. Some have used LTSB 2015 I used DVBLink version 6.0, didn't have to do anything special to find tuners...I am using the old HDHR firmware, pre DVR 20150826 https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...ible-alternatives.61061/page-323#post-1265435 https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...ible-alternatives.61061/page-323#post-1265463
Wow this forum is a goldmine of information. I have learned a TON but still have some questions. I have two HDHomerun tuners. 1. HDhomerun Prime with CableCARD 2. HDhomerun i believe Connect with OTA Digital Antenna. My windows version is 1703 OS Build 15063.540. Tried both version 8.1 and version 12 of and although the HDHomeRun Setup has no problem finding both hdhomerun devices 1 and 2 .....during the install process of WMC it can't detect my Prime with CableCARD it only sees device 2. Is the only option to put old version of windows 10 on here. If I have to do this I might just make the jump to Plex Based on somethings I read in here its my understanding that encrypted channels will no longer work but I think that my card should be recognized in WMC. Thanks for any help.
CableCards got shut down August second 2016 with the anniversary update. We never did get that figured out. The best I could come up with was to use dvblink server. Dvblink creates a virtual tuner from the CableCARD tuner and anniversary update gets tricked into allowing WMC to see the tuner. Unfortunately dvblink server does not support protected channels. If you feel like reading about this unfortunate incident skip back to August 2 2016 in this thread. We eliminated a lot of things. It was probably a month later before we had any success at all.
Just a quick note WMC 8.1 working fine on The Fast ring of Windows 10 ver 16288.1 with my HDHomeRun tuner here in the UK.
I've had no problem reloading V8.8.1 to my x64 systems with 1703 but my sole x86 was initially ok with V12 but froze and spat the dummy requiring uninstall. It reinstalls ok but when searching for channels then crashes when the first live freq is found. Any clues? Should i try x86 V10?
I have x64 systems with 1703 (win8.1 upgrade) + v12, my 4 tuners dvb-t work fine but i can't connect my 3 xbox 360 extenders. the 2 configutations steps on my pc are ok but the step 3 4 5 are not ok and my xbox is on the black screen with the "media center logo" and don't start "media center" interface. i try a lot of things but i have always the same problem. firewall : off / antivirus : off / upnp router : on
tonks, I think your wasting your time asking about Xbox 360 Extenders mate. I asked and was told to read through 100's of pages to get the answer. Windows has been updated a lot since they figured Extenders out. the whole extender thing seems to have died. Just go back to Windows 8.1 to get them working again. bootloop I have 12 install fine on Windows 10 x86, Works great over here in the UK.
try uninstall v12 with the v8.8.1 uninstaller. do a sfc repair, delete the t 2 ehome folders.....then install v12 again Here is a link for you that takes you to the first day v12 was released I found the link I was looking for to Fix V12
Not sure if anyone else has run into this but I will ask. I am running Win 10 Pro 1511 build 10586.318 with an HD HomeRun Prime Recently I have been having issues with WMC and a Video error. I have not updated Nvidia drivers as they caused a problem before and I remain on a working version. I looked in "Programs and Features/ Installed updates" and see M$ has somehow circumvented my updates being off and installed 7 updates as of 9-22-17, 6 being "Updates" 1 being "Security Update". I can no longer view SD programs on WMC, I just get a blank screen and sometimes sound, and sometimes I get the Video Error when starting WMC. The only way to get back is to run HDHomeRun software and repair windows which doesn't always work. Any ideas? I should also add only 4 of these 7 updates are uninstallable
I'm on Windows 10 Pro 1511 build 10586.164 using a HDHR Prime and a HDHR DUAL for OTA. using v8.8.1 of WMC. Updates have been disabled since April 2017. I just noticed since about September 12 WMC can no longer see my cablecard tuner. Any ideas?
I have been having the exact same problem on one of my machines - update service disabled but suddenly couldn't find tuners again. When I checked updates, sure enough Windows 10 had somehow miraculously updated on its own - despite the fact that I had update service disabled! I uninstalled the updates and WMC could see the tuners again. So I checked the update service and somehow it had gotten changed to manually triggered instead of disabled. I DID NOT change it to manual so don't know how it got that way, but didn't think too much of it at first, just figured it got changed somehow tinkering with something else. So after uninstalling all the recent updates, I changed the update service back to disabled again, rebooted everything, re-checked - all looks good. Tuners work again, everything is OK. Then the very next day - BAM - same thing all over again. Windows updated itself somehow and the stupid update service is changed back to manual again. So I go through the whole routine again - and again got everything working. Next day, same thing AGAIN, Windows had updated and had to reverse everything. So what I tried last night is to disable the service through an elevated command prompt instead of through the services console. Don't know why that would make a difference, but thought I'd give it a try. I also went into task scheduler and noticed that under the task library, there was a Windows Update folder. It contained one task that was scheduled daily to do a Windows Update scan - don't know how it got there and how it could run with update service disabled. I deleted the task anyway just in case. I also looked in the Update Orchestrator folder and noticed a couple of tasks that might be troublesome so I made sure those were disabled at least. I'm monitoring for any changes today, so I'll try to come back and report what I find. This is getting to be really ridiculous. I changed some of my PCs over to 2015 LTSB, but this one I had left alone and just disable update service because I had some VMs set up on it that I didn't want to rebuild and I still got bit. Looks like I'll have to move these VMs over after all and figure out something else. As for your problem, I'd be willing to bet it's the same as what I found. Check your update history and uninstall all the recent ones and I bet your tuners come back. NOTE: There was one update that Windows would not let me uninstall. Don't have access to the PC right now but I'll check the update when I get home and report back. It may very well be the cause of all this trouble, who knows. I'll try to keep everyone posted.
In this instance, I didn't have any updates installed and the update service was still disabled. After trying various things I ended up rolling back (reset PC) which set it back to version 10586.104 After doing this I was able to see my tuners again but I would just get a blank/black screen when tuning any channel in media center, including OTA channels from my HDHR Dual. After trying various things, I gave up for the day and then this morning when I went to check on it I was able to view all channels in media center. Not sure what happened but it works now (maybe files were still updating/installing when I was tinkering with it last night) Hopefully everything sticks now - update service shows disabled and I don't see anything for windows update in my task scheduler. Now I have to re-install the various apps I lost since I rolled back to an older build. =(
I just did a clean install of creators and the 8.8.1 installer won't even run, It just shuts down, I had it running yesterday and could play back recorded TV, but couldn't see the HDHomerun tuners so I did a restore to clean Win 10 Creators and now I can't even install WMC again. Yesterday I couldn't get the HDHR app to run either and today that works, but WMC won't install. Long term, this looks like the death of Cable Card tuners... I have several Win 7 boxes running fine, but I wanted to get this running on Win 10 - but it may not be possible if they have now blocked any installation of WMC EDIT: I reinstalled 8.8.1 but can't get HDHR 20150826 to install. Regretfuly installing 2017815 now. Update - installed 2017815 and WMC can't see tuners. Might have worked if I could have installed the 20150926 driver, but I tried setting the compatibility options in settings and running as Admin, but it still wouldn't run. If anyone has any other ideas, I'm all eyes. This is starting to look like a lost cause - I'll probably just install Win 7 and let it go.
