First of all, thank you for the tool. TL;DR: Apparently the script can’t run all commands when it is inside a folder whose name contains spaces. I think it would be nice to add a notice in the initial post, at least I didn’t notice any. I was facing a problem where the final ISO was ending up at only about 300 MB and missing the install.win file. I checked the script’s outputs and noticed that some commands were returning the message “internal command not recognized…”. That’s when I realized it could be because I placed the script’s root folder inside another folder whose name contains spaces, e.g. ''Windows 7 Update''. After I moved the script to a folder without spaces in the name, the final ISO turned out as expected.
^ It's kind of a general rule of thumb to work with short folder paths that don't contain non-latin characters or symbols.
I have at least 4.8 of .net installed but apparently not all the various updates (some had telemetry and whatnot). I should have 4.5 through 4.8 installed in that manner. Without the correct other patches powershell instantly closes when loaded if I install WMF 5.1. Usually with an error saying bad image format (looked up online says possible 32 bit and 64 bit mismatch). Anyway it's something Microsoft screwed up and "fixes" probably with a telemetry embedded update. These updates appear to be skipped on the simplex tool because of telemetry and whatnot. I have ran it and not had any luck with this specific issue. I doubt they documented which of the patches fixes the crash. Powershell is based on .net and something done there causes problems.
@B3bomber Telemetry components efffects are exaggerated on Win 7-8.1, it only takes few settings to disable https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/disable-remove-telemetry-and-tracking-service.68131/ no telemetry logs are sent to Microsoft if Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) is turned off
thanks for the great work. i was building a w7 source for my windows 7 for sfc offline purpose. this script ran successfully in win7 even without windows ADK installed.
