It should be more transparent on the tiles. See here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...annel-rs_prerelease.81990/page-3#post-1605898 and here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...annel-rs_prerelease.81990/page-3#post-1605903
IIRC, setup.exe asks me if I want to download updates before doing an in-place upgrade (this was before I even knew about DU so maybe after extracting it to the sources folder I won't be asked this) install so is it a DU? If I agree the install fails many times, but it doesn't if I disagree (and if the latter the install takes less time because I won't lose time downloading what I think is a DU). Why is this?
@MSMG, When we remove Edge, we are left without a browser shortcut. We can deal with it, as we just need to enter a page with Windows Explorer that opens IE, among other ways. But if you install it on someone else's PC... How to make a registry entry to create a Start menu shortcut, for example, iexplorer. I saw that kind of possibility in Microsoft Games *.reg. Is it done with any specific software?
So, in %windir%\SystemApps we should see a folder called Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy? Because I don't have such a folder. I'm going to reinstall my sons computer and he uses the search bar on the taskbar. So I changed HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search\SearchBoxTaskbarMode to 2 and rebooted but I can't type into the box. The image was created with Toolkit 9.5 using WiIndows 10 x64 1809 17763.1. Currently updated to 2020-05.
What actually WHD updates mean, I was searching mdl and google, but still don't know what integrate option I should select? Edit: I have .msu downloaded from Microsoft Update Catalog. Edit2: And where I should integrate them, only in install image or in boot and recovery too?
As I understand it, only after the 2004 version the cortana was separated from the search. For previous versions cortana and search are the same, merged. Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy It will only be present from version 2004 and later.
Ok, that explains that.I won't be upgrading past 1809 until the issue with removed components being restored is fixed - and it looks like that will never happen. So Cortana and Search are one. @MSMG has stated many times, removing Cortana does not break Windows Search. I have never had Cortana installed, but then I also disable the search bar on the task bar. Searching from an explorer Windows is all I need. And I rarely use that, but it works when I need it to. I can also use start/run (I use OpenShell menu) But my son (as he puts it), "doesn't want to have to endure the hassle of having to find a program on the start menu or remember names of programs" (Using the Windows 10 native menu I can understand that - it's a mess), so he wants a quick way to access stuff. Setting searchboxtaskbarmode to 2 is supposed to show the search box. What I get is setting it to 1 or 2 just displays the icon and I can't click it. nothing happens. Is this expected behavior when removing Cortana using the toolkit?
No LIVE tiles. I thought MSMG had ability to add/ remove such "components" - Or maybe this would be part of Missing Features Installer / MFI thread - would that be more fitting? MFI (Missed Features Installer) Repository Interesting.
1.I can't integrate new update files to Win 10 LTSC 2019 build 10.0.17763 release 1809... 2.before July 2020 updates , it was working like a charm 3.just integrate "Net 3.5" and "net 4.8" from feature option 4.then tried to update { [3] Integrate / [4] Windows Updates / [2] Integrate WHD Update Pack / [1] Integrate WHD General Updates / [4] Integrate to Windows Setup Boot, Install & Recovery Image } 5. toolkit says "The specified package is not applicable to this image" 6.Then I changed to last option [[4] Integrate to Windows Setup Boot, Install & Recovery Image }]to update only "Integrate to install" 7. toolkit says same message; "The specified package is not applicable to this image" is there any body who experienced same problem?? thanks to everybody
Yes there will be two edge, you can remove the old classic one. in v19042, the new Edge only gets installed on first boot and replaces the old classic one, I have added the option to remove the Edge Chromium which get's integrated with v20H2 Enablement package. Also Starting with next Toolkit version, there will be single Edge Chromium pack for Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Just use the 17763.1 image and integrate the necessary packs and remove the components then do integrate the updates or use the Windows Update. If choosing 1903/1909/2004/2009, do remember that the removed components get restored once the system or the image is updated.
Some parts of components are retained for compatibility options, only when the shared components are removed the component get fully removed. Like with the Map Control it retains some parts of it if the Photos App is not removed and when the Photos App is removed the retained parts of Map Control also gets removed. Which part of SmartScreen are left in Internet Browser?
Yes have tried the free version before, it's a more advanced tool which uses the DISM API for most of the image operation and it uses a custom mechanism for component removal and cleanup.
