The Delivery Optimization I disable by Regedit with NSUDO, as you taught me...!! Code: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\TK_SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DeliveryOptimization] "DODownloadMode"=dword:00000000
I have a Windows 10.0.19041.329 image with an old Edge. As far as I understand, when integrating the new Edge from the Tolkit package, there will be two Edge in the image?
Just to be sure, in which folder should I put the dynamic update (KB4566780), the Dynamic folder or the SetupMedia one like Enthousiast says?
Now I just need to know what's safeOS/CBS, I guess. And can it be integrated into esd (I assume the wim you're talking about is the install one)? This is confusing since it seems there are two types of dynamic updates.
You can't service an install.esd. When "integrating by dism" is mentioned, then it goes into the wim files, again, when put in the correct folders, MSMG should handle them properly.
Hello MDL, It's been a long time. Was busy with studies, job and life etc. Very good to see MSMG and MDL are going strong, A big thank you to MSMG for keeping this project strong and to whole MDL community, great people here always. I will try to be regular from now as I missed a lot of learning cannot afford to lose more, that MDL dose everyday is really great Have been using Win8.1 Update 3 Enterprise 64bit installation since 4 years all tweaked with MSMG toolkit to remove the components, disabled Defender and remove telemetry by abbodi's tips and some minor tweaks like disabling the SMB, Reg tweaks, Open Shell etc, running with rock solid stability. However with Win7 now losing support for games starting with DX12 only games and I presume Ampere wont support Win7 OS anymore, AMD already abandoned Win7/8.1 perhaps the software ecosystem might slowly move away, I would like to dual boot my system and slowly migrate to Win10 and get used to it, LTSC 1809 17763.316 & keep 8.1 installation intact for playing old games and enjoy the old Aero UX, Win7 nope because of my GPU GOP driver not there in BIOS, so need full UEFI. So I was giving MSMG toolkit a try to create LTSC ISO and integrate drivers etc. Sorry, I tried to search but no avail, it's a really noob question, the 10.1 version says when I select for component removal for 17763.316 as Source OS, only RTM 1809 release of LTSC which is 17763.1 is only supported, is this final and no way to debloat the LTSC updated release ? I remember the RTM version had some explorer issues when it was out and then MS pushed updates to fix it, afaik that updated .316 is the version which is needed. Thanks in advance.
@MSMG I personally prefer to install Windows from WIM file by WinNTSetup on WinPE; it's faster, practical. Therefore ISO files needless for me. MSMG Toolkit's only support ISO. Opening, Mounting, Dismount and Creating ISO... This is a waste of time. My suggestion is not WIM support. More than that: "Offline image" to [1] Source. For example, there is a Windows Image just extracted by WinNTSetup (or DISM ) to a disk partiton. But SysPrep phase has not started. MSMGToolkit can do all the operations to this offline disk partition based on the source. Thus, there is no need for Mount, Apply, Dismount, ISO creation, etc. progress. As Dism ++ supports. This feature would be a huge savings in terms of both processor, disk and time usage.
MSMG, Are you familiar with NTLite removal methods? This will help solve some problems with removing components, adding new ones, fixing old ones, etc.
It should be more transparent on the tiles. See here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...annel-rs_prerelease.81990/page-3#post-1605898 and here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...annel-rs_prerelease.81990/page-3#post-1605903
IIRC, setup.exe asks me if I want to download updates before doing an in-place upgrade (this was before I even knew about DU so maybe after extracting it to the sources folder I won't be asked this) install so is it a DU? If I agree the install fails many times, but it doesn't if I disagree (and if the latter the install takes less time because I won't lose time downloading what I think is a DU). Why is this?
@MSMG, When we remove Edge, we are left without a browser shortcut. We can deal with it, as we just need to enter a page with Windows Explorer that opens IE, among other ways. But if you install it on someone else's PC... How to make a registry entry to create a Start menu shortcut, for example, iexplorer. I saw that kind of possibility in Microsoft Games *.reg. Is it done with any specific software?
So, in %windir%\SystemApps we should see a folder called Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy? Because I don't have such a folder. I'm going to reinstall my sons computer and he uses the search bar on the taskbar. So I changed HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search\SearchBoxTaskbarMode to 2 and rebooted but I can't type into the box. The image was created with Toolkit 9.5 using WiIndows 10 x64 1809 17763.1. Currently updated to 2020-05.
What actually WHD updates mean, I was searching mdl and google, but still don't know what integrate option I should select? Edit: I have .msu downloaded from Microsoft Update Catalog. Edit2: And where I should integrate them, only in install image or in boot and recovery too?
As I understand it, only after the 2004 version the cortana was separated from the search. For previous versions cortana and search are the same, merged. Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy It will only be present from version 2004 and later.
