@CHEF-KOCH It seems you do not get why I post that. I love Linux and Linux is my productive system at home. I have used Mint and now I use Kubuntu. But I am no 'fanboy' of anything. Why should I be biased against Linux? I speak out what I have experienced nothing more. Try the mentioned games and you'll see, especially Quern.
On my original issue, it appears that the nvidia optimus in win 8.1 is limiting the framerate to a max of 60fps. At least this what ive come across in a few other forums as the cause of capped fps.So my @Tiger-1 Aww, i see. Id use win 10 myself, but the amount of "worms" microsoft put in, i just cant take it. I dont know how the rest of you guys use it, maybe im just paranoid for no reason. @Yen Thanks, ive looked over it quickly, and must say, its the most complicated benchmarking setup ive come across. Going to take a while to figure it out, im used to downloading a program and clicking test now. This is a bit more then that :lol: Edit: I think what im going to try and do is compare vulcan in windows and in linux.
If the game uses Vulkan API no emulation is needed - no Wine/proton/dxvk. I urge you to not use Windows 8.1 anymore. It's fundamentally more flawed than Windows 10. Witch-hunting the possible problems is a waste of time.
Believe me, id love to stop troubleshooting all these different drivers on different operating system versions. Id love to just settle on 2019 ltsc, but its phoning home is unacceptable to me. Maybe you or someone else can help, if someone can fully disable the phoning home in 2019 ltsc, id stop all this searching.
