I have a Sager 5125, based on the Clevo B5100M chassis. I downloaded the latest Phoenixmodtool and it says it successfully modded the bios I extracted with winphlash. I take that modded bios and it hangs when the flash utility reaches the "check flash memory type", specifically CallDeviceFunction IpFlashEnable. I suspect it is hanging on this section for Winphlash as well. Any ideas?
I also have the same exact problem My Notebook is a local Singapore Brand and the website don't have any bios download. So i backup the bios using WinPflash from IBM Thinkcentre A55. Backup can be done without problem. Get ACPItbl.rw using ReadWrite 1.4 Create a SLIC BIOS done. But now i cannot flash back to the bios since the vendor of this stupid notebook never give a link for bios update. Anybody can help ?
I'd be happy to share that information, the computer is a SONY VGN-FE880E It's running vista and is running BIOS Version R0190J3 I successfully saved a BIOS.BAK using winphlash and a dummy BIOS so it was able to save the proper Platform information. I then renamed the BIOS to BIOS.WPH, modded the BIOS with SLIC 2.1 and certs, used RWeverything to save a RW file, and tried out Winphlash and Phlash16. Using Winphlash just locks up the computer when it reaches the programming phase, when using Phlash16 from DOS it stops at "check flash memory type(s)" and the below information readout says "CallDeviceFunction IpFlashEnable..." and it never progresses. I'd download an original BIOS but SONY no longer provides a link and it's nowhere on the web that I can find, there are one or two links here on the forum for an already modded BIOS but the links are dead. Any ideas?
Please let us know how it goes: 1. If it's compatible with FE880. 2. If you're able to upgrade to SLIC v2.1 and reflash. 3. Upload the RW-Everything report(s) so others can mod the BIOS too. Also I added a link to the patched WinPhlash v1.4.0 (No Version Check) in my post above.
