    Hi,

I posted an official overview a while ago here : https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...h-definition-audio.72236/page-70#post-1587265

So, if you are not a streamer or youtuber, you have no interest in installing it.

Hi @MoKiChU, as a owner of a Crosshair VI Hero I don't need the DTS stuff, in fact I'm using the previous SS3 only 8918.1 driver you've posted some pages behind. Now, If I install 8923.1 as an update, will it also install the DTS stuff (which as I previously said I don't need)? I just want to update the 8918.1 ROG SS3 driver to 8923.1 SS3 (like the old package) without the DTS stuff. Thanks for your great work.

    Hi,

No, only your current drivers (without DTS) will be updated. But anyway your motherboard doesn't allow you to use DTS stuff.

No, the v6.0.1.8468 is older than the latest v6.0.8816.1 (that I posted on my HDA drivers thread in ROG forum).

You will also find latest Sonic Studio II v2.2.3901.0 (Fix the UAC popup about Sonic Studio II) in my HDA drivers thread in ROG forum.

No you cannot use the UAD drivers with your motherboard.
Yes the latest HDA - FF03/ASUS ROG SSx drivers are vulnerable as I pointed out here, but if you want to use SS2/SR2 you have no choice.

If on the other hand if you are not wanting to use SS2/SR2, you can use the latest HDA - FF00/ASUS ROG/PRIME/TUF DTS&RTK drivers which are not vulnerable.

    MoKiChU, thank you!

If anyone interested: tried to install versions 8923.1 and 8924.1, still the same strange bug i've discribed here - https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...h-definition-audio.72236/page-71#post-1587942

Drivers from pal1000 also have it. I guess there is something wrong or different in drivers themselves since version 8900.

So had to rollback to 6.0.8899.1. Last without this annoying thing.

Hi Fautor, I have the exact same problem, when I reboot windows, in the moment it shuts down I hear a crack noise as you described, I can hear it through my loudspeakers (passive, connected to an amp). Hopefully they can resolve this issue with some next driver update.

@MoKiChU please take note of this issue! Thanks.

    @MoKiChU,

@erpsterm35 gave me some great advice over in the Tenforum but he suggested I follow-up with you on an ROG Hero VIII motherboard specific question about my 5.1 audio.

I had not used my 5.1 audio for a while but before windows updates of the past few months I absolutely had 5.1 audio through my analog Logitech speakers. Worked with Premiere Pro, DVD's, any level test, etc.

But at some point 5.1 stopped working and all of my 5.1 settings and all my distances and levels disappeared from the SupremeFX tab. And when I ran the test and level balance I only got audio out of the left and right speaker.

It was still set for 5.1 in both windows and the SupremeFX sound manager tab (within the Realtek HD Audio Manager) and I reset it up but still no sound. I know the hardware and wiring is working because I can get pseudo 5.1 sound out of all of the speakers for stereo. But no discrete 5.1. Any suggestions specific to my ROG Mboard?

Asus has a new Realtek Audio driver version 6.0.1.8468. and I am running Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.7654 driver (from ROG) which @erpster35 pointed out is an antique .

I plan on upgrading to v6.0.8746.1 FF03 HDA ASUS driver along with Sonic Suite 3 as the ROG download is even older.

However, if there is an issue that I need to resolve to get 5.1 back before I update the driver, I would like to do that first. Unless upgrading the driver will just solve it.
Sometimes I have found if you have an issue and assume a driver update will fix it, it makes the issue worse and does not fix.

    Thanks,
    BJBBJB

It's up to Realtek to fix that minor issue. I can not do anything about it.

    Hi,

Why are you using obsolete HDA drivers when your motherboard is designed for UAD drivers (the UAD drivers also allow you to take advantage of your built-in DTS Sound Unbound which does not exist in Win32/Legacy app for HDA drivers) ? It's because you are on Windows 7 64 bit ? If not, and that you are on Windows 10 64 bit 1903/19H1/18362.x or more recent :

You need Realtek Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG/PRIME/TUF) from my latest update post. Follow scrupulously the INSTALL process (with cleanup step).

Note (in order to choose correctly the install/update process to use) : You have a ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard.

Sorry, I read too quickly and your incomplete indication misled me, you indicated that you had a "ROG Hero VIII" motherboard and I concluded that you had a ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (AMD X570 chipset) while you surely have a ROG Maximus VIII Hero (Intel Z170 chipset).

    Correct answer : https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...h-definition-audio.72236/page-78#post-1591986

All right, somebody need to point that out to Realtek then (those who can, and are affected by this issue of course).

    @MoKiChU,

Thanks! I am on Windows 10 64bit. I was just using the last ASUS-provided drivers for my Maximus VIII Hero from their website that I upgraded to before my last major windows update (before Asus posted a more recent one). It worked with ASIO4ALL for me generating 5.1 audio mixes in Premiere Pro and my other 5.1 playback needs. I do not use my PC as a home theatre source or playing many movies. I just didn't know any better until my 5.1 went away and I started researching.

Thanks for sharing the info on my Hero VIII and which driver to use. I will certainly follow the instructions.

I do not have all of the items mentioned in the uninstall/install section of the instructions. I only have Realtek High Definition Audio driver and "Asus Sonic Suite Plugin" which I assume yields my current Sonic Suite 2? Am sure this is a stupid question but am I correct that I would fall into the second "update" section and not the "install/uinstall" top section?

I think the only thing I used Sonic Studio for was to generate "Fake" 5.1 audio from stereo sources. So I may want Sonic Studio 3 unless virtual mixer (which is new to me) does that now.

I am very PC literate but obviously not up to speed on my audio drivers.....
    Thanks,
    BJBBJB
