Hi. 1. Can it search and install Embedded updates for Win7, Win8? 2. Will it still work flawlessly on Win11?
The latest update 18.01.2022 is ok for Windows 10/11. For Windows 7/8 try the 2016 version, but for Windows 7/8 you have the choice to select your updates with Windows Update. BTW you could try Windows Update Manager : https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-update-manager.77736/
There are two different "good" versions. 20/12/2016 - legacy but still very much usable 22/04/2022 which is the latest, redesigned interface, has support for Optional/Preview updates for Windows 10. As far as I can tell, I miss the sort by date feature from the legacy version, otherwise I use the 22/04/2022 version for all Win10/11 and server equivalent.
0x80244007 is SOAP error (not specific to WSUS) maybe they changed something in the protocol, which WUMT cannot comprehend run in powershell, and check the generated WindowsUpdate.log Code: Get-WindowsUpdateLog -ForceFlush -Confirm:$False -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
What does the setting "notification only" does under automatic updates? Does it disable auto download of updates & only allow a notification shown by windows saying updates available? @abbodi1406
Normally yes but for Windows 10 1709 and later, MS has other means to download missing updates and upgrade your OS to supported version
This week I've been noticing that when I use wumt_x64 on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 to select and install any Windows Defender Definition updates, they succeed at both downloading and installing, but when the tool rechecks as it finishes, the exact same Definition update shows listed again. It doesn't matter how many times I choose to install, they show up again - even after closing the program, opening it and scanning again. A check on the Windows Settings page for Protection Updates shows the update has been installed. This behavior is happening on both of my two Win 10 Pro 22H2 machines. A bug in wumt or a change on MS's end?
How can you claim a bug in WUMT when it has not changed in more than 1 year and has been functioning well since then and long before?
Sorry. Not the best wording in my message, for sure. I really do believe something changed in Windows. Just wanted to find out if anyone else was having this issue. (Any way to report this behavior to stupid user?)
I had the same behavior in windows update itself. The update downloading over and over until it finally got installed. Obviously is not a WUMT bug.
