Ran this first on a VM machine, looked okay. Then on my production desktop and it found a load of Intel updates otherwise not picked up, so pleased with that. Also found a driver update for my cannon printer which for some reason won't install, don't really know which folder in the software/downloads folder it has been downloaded to as they are just a series of numbers (time stamp didn't help either). I'll visit the cannon site later, coincidently once the update has been applied can I delete all those download/update folders? Nice piece of software I might add, thanks to the OP for the link...
good program. it found my mainboard's chipset drivers which i didn't see with regular windows update. it seems that this tool downloads updates to windows update's own folder. i think it will be better if there was an option to copy them to programs own folder. so that we can use them to update other systems offline.
Are you saying you didn't have the INF's installed or just that the tool found newer INF's, because if it did they are WORTHLESS and do absolutely nothing.
The tool relies and use same WU infrastructure, all downloading are through WU it's not a downloader it's like the external powershell module PSWindowsUpdate, but much more advanced and user-friendly features
It's not an error to be fixed, those Japanese updates (dictionaries) represent actual updates reported by WU api
Why would there be updates to them when there is no other language, and why Japanese ?. Why don't they show as installing under WU or in folder ?. Why is our star hot ?.
There were some PCI to PCI Bridge devices which turned to Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 8 - 1E1E after i have installed them.
As great as this program is, why is there no "stop and then disable immediately the windows update service" option for when I'm through with updates? Windows Update Minitool does not stop the windows update service immediately when it's done. This is my only problem with this program. It will; however, start the windows update service if it's not running when the program starts, as it should. But... If I use the Windows Update MiniTool with my Windows Update Full Control script in my signature, substituting WUMT for the windows update show-hide tool, the update service is stopped and disabled after doing updates and it works great. I'll update the post giving the option of using WUMT with the script when I get the time soon. The option of using the show-hide tool, or wumt, or both, with updates cut off afterwords, is my idea of the perfect solution.
The only thing that happened is the newer INF versions above 10.0 added Intel identity to the rest of the roots and LPC, as before it was only the SMBus which would change from MS to Intel. The only thing that has happened is the name has been added, nothing more, there is zero performance as these drivers are about the same as a monitor driver, they do nothing but allow the hardware to be seen.
The minitool installed a bunch of intel drivers for me also. I feel better now knowing that they installed the same generic driver again, j/k. I also noticed no performance increase at all, nor did the battery life change with the new intel chipset drivers, but it's running well.
