In India, if you say that there is a shortage of oxygen and hospital beds, you will be immediately thrown into jail by the government and all your property will be seized. I think I would rather live in China. :(

They are failing their population big time on oh so many levels, yes...

But it's too much for some - too much thinking required, never mind empathising...

Is that how to understand the effects of Lockdown quarantine, that people lost their homes?

I found a rather interesting book from 1994
covers a lot of topics, including phasing out money and coins and then unplugging the unneeded ones from the system.

For example, on page 107 "eliminate 4 billion 'useless eaters'"

India and the lack of oxygen?
Guys, I lived in India and many friends live there now.
    Don't watch these media fakes.
All this propaganda has nothing to do with reality!
Remember the footage of Italy hospital with the sick and dying?
A year later it turned out to be a fake and everything was filmed in pavilions to fool the population!

One Covid vaccine cuts infection rate in all age groups

The chances of becoming infected by Covid fell sharply after a first dose of either the AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccines, a UK study has found.

The vaccines worked just as well in the over-75s and those with underlying health conditions, as other people.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) and University of Oxford research also found a strong antibody response in all age groups from either jab.

Everyone showed some response to both vaccines, they said.

The research, contained in two studies which have not yet been peer-reviewed or published, is based on virus tests from 370,000 people in the general UK population - one of the largest to date.

It provides further real-world evidence that the vaccines being used in the UK to protect against Covid-19 are effective at protecting people against coronavirus infections.

In the first study, people who had been vaccinated with a single dose of either the Oxford-AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines were 65% less likely to get a new Covid infection.

    Variant protection
Three weeks after their jab, given between December 2020 and early April 2021, infections with symptoms fell by 74%, while infections with no reported symptoms fell by 57%.

Those who had received a second vaccine dose of Pfizer were 90% less likely to be infected. The same calculation could not be made for AZ, because too few people in the study had received a second dose as its rollout started later.

The study showed both vaccines were effective against the Kent variant (B117) which was circulating at the time.

Dr Koen Pouwels, senior researcher in University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Population Health, said the data backed up the decision to extend the gap between doses.

"The protection from new infections gained from a single dose supports the decision to extend the time between first and second doses to 12 weeks to maximise initial vaccination coverage, and reduce hospitalisations and deaths," he said.

However, he said the figures showed there was still a chance vaccinated people could acquire Covid again and pass it to others, emphasising the need for social distancing and masks.

The second study, in nearly 46,000 adults who had been vaccinated with one dose, found strong antibody responses - a sign that the vaccines are stimulating the body's defence system to protect against the virus - in all age groups.

These antibody responses were "broadly sustained out to 10 weeks afterwards", the researchers said.

Although antibody levels rose more slowly and to a lower level with a single dose of Oxford-AstraZeneca, they dropped more quickly after one Pfizer dose, particularly in older age groups.

    Antibody boost for over-80s
There was a better response in younger adults compared with older adults over 60 with both jabs, but after two doses of Pfizer antibody levels were high across all ages, the study said.

One finding that surprised researchers was the amount by which the immune response shot up in the over-80s after a second dose - far more than in younger age groups.

The findings highlight the importance of people getting their second vaccine dose for increased protection, the researchers said.

But it is still not clear what the build-up of antibodies after a Covid vaccine actually means.

Prof Sarah Walker, chief investigator on the studies, from the University of Oxford, said: "We don't yet know exactly how much of an antibody response, and for how long, is needed to protect people against getting Covid-19 in the long term - but over the next year, information from the survey should help us to answer these questions."

Both studies are based on data from the Covid-19 Infection Survey, a partnership between the University of Oxford, the ONS and the Department for Health and Social Care.

Why India's Covid crisis matters to the whole world
    [IMG]IMAGE COPYRIGHTREUTERS
The harrowing scenes from India have shocked the world, as the country struggles with soaring cases of Covid.

But the outbreak isn't just a crisis for India - it's a crisis for everyone.

"The virus doesn't respect borders, or nationalities, or age, or sex or religion," says Dr Soumya Swaminathan, the World Health Organization's chief scientist.

"And what's playing out in India now unfortunately has been played out in other countries."
The pandemic has revealed just how interconnected the world is. And if a country has very high levels of infection, then it's likely to spread to other countries.

Even with travel restrictions, multiple tests and quarantine, infections can still leak out; and if a traveller has come from somewhere where the virus is very prevalent, they have a higher chance of taking the virus with them. On a recent flight from New Delhi to Hong Kong about 50 passengers tested positive for Covid-19.

India Covid: Hospitals overwhelmed as deaths pass 200,000
    [IMG]IMAGE COPYRIGHTREUTERS

India has reached the devastating figure of 200,000 coronavirus deaths, with the pressure on many hospitals showing no sign of abating amid a surging second wave.

The real number of fatalities is thought to be far greater, with many not being officially recorded.

Oxygen supplies remain critically low across the country, with the black market the only option for some people.

Crematoriums are operating non-stop, with makeshift pyres in car parks.

There have been at least 300,000 new infections every day in the past week, with more than 360,000 new cases in the past 24 hours on Wednesday. Overall, more than 17.9 million cases have been registered.

What are other countries doing to help?
Foreign aid has started to arrive from the UK and Singapore. Russia, New Zealand and France have pledged to send emergency medical equipment, and even regional rivals Pakistan and China have put aside their differences and promised to help.

On Thursday, the US said it would start delivering supplies worth more than $100m, in addition to individual US states and private companies also readying oxygen, equipment, and supplies for Indian hospital.

However, experts say the aid will only have a limited effect in a nation that has a population of 1.3 billion.

A government website where Indians can register for a vaccination programme crashed soon after it launched on Wednesday, as tens of thousands of people tried to access it.

And in the state of Assam, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake damaged hospitals which were already under intense strain. People ran from their homes and other buildings in panic.

How bad is the situation in India?
The numbers we are seeing are staggeringly high - but the real number of fatalities are thought to be much higher.

Mortality data in India is poor and deaths at home often go unregistered, especially in rural areas. There are reports of journalists counting bodies at morgues themselves, to try to get a more accurate number.

In Uttar Pradesh, health officials said 68 people had died on one day earlier this month across the state. But a Hindi newspaper pointed out that officials also said there were 98 Covid funerals in the capital, Lucknow, alone.

    [IMG]IMAGE COPYRIGHTREUTERS
image captionCrematoriums are working throughout the night and using empty spaces like parks and carparks to build makeshift funeral pyres
Crematoriums continue to work throughout the night to keep up with the number of bodies arriving, and many families are facing long waits before their loved ones can receive funeral rites. Some say they were asked to help speed up the process by piling the wood themselves.

In the southern city of Bengaluru, one doctor told the BBC people were panicking. It is one of the worst-hit cities in India, with some estimates saying there are about 300 active Covid cases per square kilometre.

"We were not prepared for this second surge," the consultant said.

"For the first surge it was well organised. This time there are more cases, it was more sudden, and the situation was not prepared for."

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported in its weekly epidemiological update that there were nearly 5.7 million new cases reported globally last week - and India accounts for 38% of them.

It also said that the B.1.617 variant of the virus detected in India has a higher growth rate than other variants in the country, suggesting increased transmissibility.

    Are people getting vaccinated?
India is carrying out the world's biggest vaccination drive, but less than 10% of the population has so far received an initial jab and there are concerns about meeting demand.

The US is helping India with the raw materials it needs for vaccine production, after India's biggest vaccine maker, the Serum Institute of India, complained of shortages of specialised imports from the US.

Meanwhile, the first batch of the Russian vaccine, Sputnik V, is set to arrive in India on 1 May, The New Indian Express reports. It has not yet been revealed how many doses will be delivered.

    [IMG]IMAGE COPYRIGHTGETTY IMAGES
image captionWith most hospitals at capacity, many people are seeking help elsewhere, including this woman outside a Sikh temple in Ghaziabad
    What is the government doing?
India is heading towards state elections, and there is increasing anger towards both state authorities and the central government for the handling of the pandemic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been accused of ignoring scientific warnings to participate in election rallies and allowing a massive Hindu festival to go ahead in northern India.

Dr Navjot Dahiya, the vice-president of the Indian Medical Association, called Mr Modi a "super spreader" who had "tossed all Covid norms in the air".

The prime minister said he had held three meetings on Tuesday to discuss ways to increase oxygen capacities and medical infrastructure, including the use of trains and military aircraft to speed up transport of oxygen supplies.

The BBC's Yogita Limaye says many people are asking why the military and disaster response teams have not been put on a war footing to build field hospitals.

"There is a sense of abandonment in the country, of people being left to fend for themselves," our correspondent reports.

State and union territory governments, from Delhi to Karnataka, have been criticised for allowing Covid protocols to lapse and failing to prepare for what epidemiologists say was an inevitable surge in infections.

The nature article is great. It belongs to the topic t-cell activity / recognition / response and by that also to cross-immunity and natural herd immunity.
    I already posted these: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41577-020-00460-4 and https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0092867420310084?via=ihub

and the famous Cell study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7237901/

Your question affects many many things....
From 81% T-cell response of unexposed individuals (which can be used as reason for the fact that 80% do ONLY have mild or asymptomatic progress.) I used this argument myself long time ago.
    https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/coronavirus-discussion.81224/page-55#post-1620871
    https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/coronavirus-discussion.81224/page-69#post-1626865

The ticker guy also posted just pointless assumptions (I mean why posting about a probable pathology of the S protein WHEN it is actually not possible that the s-protein ever leaves the cell where it is made as such?!?.)
It seems he knows nothing about antigen presentation on a cell and the function of endosomes / lysosomes!!!
A valid reason on pathogens is... pathogenic antibodies. At some rare conditions some individuals make ABs against platelet factor 4 (thrombo thrombocytopenia) AKA clotting issue/ CVT...

But the major expression (I guess you are referring to)......

He is saying that we have 81% T-cell response 81% are already immunized and do not need the vaccine due to an existing cross-immunity because of a former corona virus infection (there are other human corona viruses.)

Yes, this is actually a reasonable statement. In the meantime there are already labs offering a t-cell test. The question is: Are they really suitable to tell you IF you'd belong to those 81%??

There are no studies yet to figure that out. In theory they can! (Not only a prior COVID-19 infection also cross-immunity of former corona viruses related t-cell activities).

    https://www.adaptivebiotech.com/202...ting-in-determining-prior-covid-19-infection/

It is for sure more reasonable to let check the own t-cell status and then decide if a vaccination would add a benefit at all.
This test is around 160 bucks, though.

But there are still some unknowns left. For instance how the new variants would provoke the t-cell response and how their epitopes would still match.

My own idea about that is...I do not go for vaccination yet because
-I am in an age / condition group where the progress is mostly mild.
-I have drugs like IVM and Budesonide handy
-I am not convinced about a good benefit / risk ratio for my own person yet.

If you want more specific topics discussed (which that guy there addressed over there) then feel free to ask specifically.

That guy is mostly reasonable, but also has a few pointless assumptions posted over there as well (IMHO)....
(Some special counter arguments, against the vaccines are hmmm pointless or highly speculative)...

But I agree a mass vaccination is highly questionable. I ever said that. To vaccinate the elderly people only AND TO FOCUS on established drug screening would have been a better approach.

Guess what? We DO have already the cures for COVID-19 we just need to spot them all.

    Check this out!
    source: https://www.world-today-news.com/co...by-controversial-drug-only-approved-for-dogs/

At beginning of March remind that. Now check this:
    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/czech-republic/

They peak'ed there with 16,777 active cases. Now they are at 2,579!
Daily deaths: 234 now 51! I bet it'll go down further very soon.

Why not India in time and more consequently? Well, distribute IVM to 1.3 billion people compared to 12.65 million. It takes more time. Time which is actually NOT needed IF taken IVM seriously far before that mess could ever happen.

It IS known that IVM works since last April already!
Czech Republic has a dynamic as they would vaccinate as strong as Israel!

Can we afford to suppress IVM any further? Just coincidence?!?

    This is real crime!

The 'old' Merck once donated lots of IVM doses as an act for humanity to fight parasites!
Now the new Merck is badmouthing their own stuff saying it can be dangerous to fight COVID and saying there is no benefit. How could they at all? Where do we live??????

In that respect, what is shown on TV is not valid.

  16. Television always misguide n we must always prefer to beleive on reality .
Television channel partners receive an fixed ammount of charges from current active political party funds to show people what those politicians want them to see.
is a valid fact with concrete evidence.
Plus if TV channel partners wont agree with politicians then either there channel will be barred from brodcasting department.

Thanks for reviewing his post. The guy's not a doctor, but reads a lot, and understands the complicated stuff better than most people....me included. I'm pretty sure that he believes what he posts is the truth, as he sees it. But in anything as complex as what he is discussing, there are bound to be errors. But at lease he's willing to put it out there for all to see, and someone like you can comment on his reasoning.

That's why it's very important to have second, or even third opinions on such complex matters. Your analysis of the information adds to what he has posted, and hopefully this conversation will be picked up by enough people to make a difference in what the MSM reports.

    We can only hope....

Guys, what can we talk about if schools teach the multiplication table from the beginning is just a lie!
    They write 2*3=6.
Why don't they multiply but add up?
    The correct solution is:
    2*3=
Take a pen and paper and write down
    2*2*2=8
    And you say media, propaganda?
The schools are initially fooling people into growing up to be freaks!
