No need to rename it, just extract what you want.....right click on it when using winrar..tested with 7-zip, works also.;)

Yes, the server checks if it is referred from MDL....we don't want that somebody uses the links to slics.myftp from foreign sites.....all stuff on the server (Mods, modtools..etc.) is 'home made' exept the official tools!

Is it safe now flash Dimension 5150 ?

I used the v1.26 tool on D5150A07.exe, choose DELL.BIN as SLIC.
It asked me there's no complete slic and if I want use dynamic method. I answered 'yes' and it generated D5150A07_SLIC.exe successfully.

So am I safe to flash the bios now?
    thanks.

Yes it is BUT as far as I know if the SLIC WAS NEVER THERE.................you MUST use RW report first to get the ACPI tables and do SSV2 otherwise it will not happen.

    Hi

    ** Removed **

There is a potential bug I am investigating that may have bricked a Dell XPS 430. It has probably been present the entire time since 1.20
DO NOT USE THE TOOL FOR DELL MODS UNTIL I POST FURTHER

Andy - Could you explain the problem that you fixed just a little more?

I remade all of my Dell BIOS'es (Inspiron 9300, Latitude D610/D820/D830, XPS M1530, Precision M6300) and only three of them were different from before (namely the I9300, M1530 and M6300). The M1530 & M6300 had existing SLIC tables...only the I9300 did not have a prior SLIC table.

Was the bug critical enough that you would you recommend that I re-flash the three?

if it ain't broke, don't try fix it :) I believe the bug could cause bricking on some Dells in rare cases, if it worked, it worked!

    Hi

Exactly as phrunt said.... if it works, it works!

If, when doing a mod, the new module was larger/smaller than the original module (didn't often happen for dynamic, does for SSV2) the tool looked for a region of FFh to subtract/add bytes to. In the case of the XPS 430 this could happen in a module (there was a module with nearly 8K of FFh) rather than at the end of a block. The tool now makes this check.

I would NOT reflash anything that works normally. I am pretty sure the 9300,610,820 should be fine as I have looked at those for various reasons before.
